A little about me...

I like (in no particular order): fashion websites, picture stalking, learning about nutrition, how I feel after I’ve run 4 days in a row, my family, my friends, going to school in the south, sunning, going out to dinner and “getting ready” to go out, skim vanilla lattes, the stationary my mom ordered for me years ago that I still haven’t used up yet, bellinis, sushi, fried rice/potstickers asian food in general, getting my hair cut, getting so lost in a long book that I finish it the same week I started it, watching 90s movies, really good cds for road trips, long drives by myself (anywhere from 1-10 hours.. seriously), the taste of cold beer on a really sunny day, the song teenage wasteland, reading blogs, eating my boyfriend’s mother’s mouth watering southern cooking, almost any tv show on bravo, candles, Rachel Zoe as a person, stylist, and designer, Poland spring water, wearing the fuzzy soft red socks my aunt gave me for christmas, beautiful and creative wedding pictures, manicures, tropical smelling perfumes, browsing sunglasses, spooning on a cold night, old pictures, fresh starts with blank notebooks, the weight lifted after a big exam, traveling, "just the girls" nights, always knowing exactly what time it is, noticing that slowly all the idiosyncrasies that bother my mom now bother me, betty crocker white cake mix with white whipped icing, thinking up really thoughtful gifts for people, koozies, candid pictures, hand crafted jewelry, Everyday Italian with Giada, SEC football, colorful sunsets, not having to wear a jacket out at night (and that’s rare because I get cold very easily), advertising- particularly the workings of it and knowing that all of it is strategic, the idea of one day learning another language, not having to grow-up… yet.

That took awhile to think about and write down :)

First Post

I remember the first time I tried to write a blog, well actually at the time it was a Live Journal, but it was after I read the book Love and Other Four-Letter Words way back in 2002. I've always loved to read and I am very easily influenced so after reading this book I wanted to copy the girl in the story and make a live journal using her email address which was "mariposa". (I think I remember the girl naming her bicycle "mariposa" and that is why it was her email address.. but I could be wrong). Mariposa is the Spanish word for butterfly. Anyway ever since then I've always loved the word so I thought it would be the perfect title for my 2nd attempt at starting a blog.
